Summary

On August 6, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada, a civilian reported a satellite passing overhead at 2230 (10:30 p.m.). The object was seen at about 65 degrees above the horizon and moved from west to east. It had a slight green color and stayed in sight for 15 to 20 minutes. The witness said it passed over the area often. The Air Force could not verify space track data, but all the information pointed to the Echo satellite. The card lists the cause as a satellite.
