Olmsted AFB, Pa., [ILLEGIBLE] 1952Circa 1952
Summary
On August 14, 1952, at 1438 (2:38 p.m.), a commercial pilot flying a Flying Tiger aircraft reported a blue light over Olmsted Air Force Base, Pennsylvania. The pilot said the blue light was quite far ahead on a collision course with his aircraft.
The pilot reported that the object had tremendous horizontal speed. It was sighted to the southwest. The weather was clear with 15 miles visibility. The sighting lasted about three minutes.
An observer questionnaire in the file records the light as blue and gives a few details about direction and weather. The case was handled as part of Project Blue Book, the Air Force's official record of unidentified flying object reports. The readable text does not give a firm final conclusion.
