Insufficient Data

Summary

On March 1, 1950, at Greater Pittsburgh Airport in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, military observers reported seeing an unidentified flying object. The object was round, white, and hovered and climbed at an estimated altitude between 2,000 and 20,000 feet over a five-minute period. It moved to the east at a speed of 50 to 60 mph and climbed at an estimated 5,600 feet per minute. The object had what appeared to be an exhaust flame in the center. The Air Force concluded the sighting was consistent with a weather balloon and overestimation of size by the observers.
