Insufficient Data

Summary

On March 29, 1950, at 8:02 p.m., a military observer at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama reported an unidentified flying object over the runway heading 255 degrees. The object appeared to be a formation of five aircraft in a V formation. It flew slowly and descended still at times. The object showed 10-12 large red lights and made several transmissions to aircraft in the area. A witness on duty in the tower as an operator heard sounds like birds except for the red lights. No reports came from aircraft in the area. The witness did not ask the aircraft to try and identify the objects although on duty at the tower. The Air Force concluded the sighting involved insufficient data.
