Summary

On March 3, 1956, a civilian near Fredrick, Oklahoma, reported a group of lights in the night sky. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The witness described twelve bluish-white lights grouped in a semi-circle. The whole group looked about the size of an orange held at arm's length. The lights moved north on a straight and level path at an estimated altitude of 2,000 feet. They were in sight for only two or three seconds.

The Air Force concluded the sighting was astronomical, a meteor. The record said the duration was much too short for an aircraft and that the description matched many cases of an exploding meteor that breaks into several pieces and keeps moving as a group.
