On March 4, 1957, civilian and military witnesses at Erie, Pennsylvania, reported a single object. The case was logged under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The object was red and cigar shaped and looked about eight inches long.

The object moved up and down. It was watched, by eye and through binoculars, for about 25 minutes.
