Summary
On January 31, 1955, near Detroit, Maine, an observer reported a bright object in the sky. It looked like a bright blue-white star. It was about the size and shape of a small circular saw, with sharply outlined edges.
The object did not explode, break up, or give off smoke or exhaust. It did tend to flicker at times.
The Air Force agreed with the investigating officer that the sighting was probably caused by the planet Venus. The case was evaluated as Venus.
