Summary

On July 2, 1960, a civilian in Dayton, Ohio reported seeing an unusual object in the sky around 9:20 a.m. The witness described it as cone or tube-shaped, with a tail and two blue lights. The object had a brilliant stream of fire and appeared to be roughly the size of a T-33 jet trainer. It moved at high speed and disappeared over the northern horizon, remaining visible for about two minutes.

Air Force investigators checked with Base Operations at the local airfield. The base reported no known aircraft in the area at the time of the sighting. However, the official Air Force evaluation of the case concluded that an aircraft was the probable cause of the report.
