Summary
On March 5, 1956, a civilian Ground Observer Corps member at Columbus, Ohio, reported two objects at 2255 (10:55 p.m.). The report was made under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
The observer said the objects were round and about two inches across at arm's length. They were yellow, made no sound, and showed no exhaust. The objects appeared to stay in one place and then faded from sight. The sighting lasted about 15 minutes. Binoculars were used. Thunderstorms were in the area, and beacon lights were nearby.
The Air Force concluded the sighting was a reflection from a beacon light at a nearby airport.
