Summary

On the night of February 26, 1954, an object was reported near Columbus, Ohio. The witnesses were civilians, and the sighting was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The object appeared to be stationary and closely resembled a star in size and color. Shortly after it was first seen, it appeared to rise straight up slowly for some distance, then move off rapidly in another direction. Witnesses included two young boys, and a neighbor was called to look at it.

The Air Force concluded the object was a star, with its apparent motion attributed to passing clouds. The planet Jupiter was in the position of the sighting.
