Summary

On June 17, 1956, someone in Columbus, Ohio called the U.S. Air Force to report an unidentified flying object. The caller saw one or more pencil-shaped objects during daylight hours. The sighting lasted only two to four seconds, and the observer watched through a window from inside a house.

The objects appeared solid and yellow. They flashed on and then off again as they moved in a straight line across an overcast sky. The observation was brief, and the witness was looking through window glass at the time.

The Air Force investigator who reviewed the report concluded that the objects were probably aircraft that had disappeared into the overcast clouds. The short duration of the sighting and the fact that the observer was looking through a window were cited as reasons for the brief viewing time. The file marked the case as "Probably Aircraft."
