On April 1, 1957, at 9:15 a.m. in Colorado Springs, a civilian witness reported one object shaped like a parachute, about half the size of a C-47 aircraft, white or shiny silver in color. The object hovered near a C-47 plane, then moved due east and flew out of sight. The sighting lasted 45 to 60 seconds. A C-47 pilot in the area did not see the object. Conard Force East Center noted there could be balloons in the area.
