Summary

On April 24, 1963 (about 10:58 p.m. local time by Greenwich time), a civilian in Cloquet, Minnesota, reported a tear shaped object about the size of a football. It was bluish, like a fireball, with a bright tail and no exhaust. The witness was a chief of guards at a local company. The sighting lasted about 5 seconds.

The object was already in view and falling when first noticed, at about 45 degrees above the horizon. It arced from east to west and dropped to about 30 degrees before a building blocked the view. The night was clear.

The Air Force, in its Project 10073 record, said the description and all data indicated a meteor. The case was evaluated as astronomical, a meteor.
