Summary

On November 1, 1957, at 8:22 p.m., a civilian reported sighting a circular object approximately the size of a B-25 aircraft moving southwest in the sky above Buffalo, New York. The observation lasted about 25 minutes. Pilots were scrambled but did not locate the object. The Air Force initially marked the sighting as unidentified but later determined the object was the planet Venus. A newspaper article titled 'Light in Their Eyes: Caused by Venus' explained that the Air Force had sent a jet interceptor to investigate and concluded the reported sighting was caused by Venus. Similar reports came from the Boston area on the same evening.
