Summary

On the night of September 20-21, 1956, residents of Brooklyn, New York reported seeing unusual objects in the sky. The Air Force received multiple sightings from civilian witnesses, including a salesman and several students.

The first sighting involved a circular object that was fuzzy at one end. It displayed a bluish light on the front and a red blinking light from the middle. Witnesses heard a roaring or whooshing sound as the object moved overhead. The sighting lasted about one minute.

A second sighting, reported separately, involved two objects. One was white and one was red, roughly the size of a half dollar. Witnesses heard a high pitched humming sound. The red object appeared first and seemed to slow down, then the white object came alongside it. Both objects then flew away together, though the exact duration was not reported in the file.

A third sighting followed a similar pattern to the second, with a larger light preceding a smaller one.

The Air Force investigators concluded that the sightings were "probably aircraft." The case file notes that "the description of lights and presence of sound support this hypothesis." The witnesses' reports of multiple objects with distinct colored lights and audible noise were consistent with jet aircraft, according to the evaluating officers.
