Project Blue Book Case File
Brooklyn, New YorkAugust 1958
Summary
On about August 29, 1958, a civilian in Brooklyn, New York, reported an unidentified flying object he had seen roughly ten days earlier at about 8 p.m. He wrote to the War Department about it. He was sitting on a roof when he saw an object to the south by west. He described it as a triangle, shaped like an isosceles triangle, about 3 or 4 miles up and not moving fast. The sides were brightly lit, like ordinary electric light. It had no wings and flew too slowly for a jet. He watched it for 5 or 6 minutes.
The witness said his eyesight was good and that no one else seemed to have seen it. The Air Force conclusion on the Project 10073 record card was probably aircraft, noting that a delta-wing aircraft in a climb gives the appearance described. The card noted the witness reported it ten days late because it had no wings and flew slower than jets. Project 10073 was the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
