Summary

On January 8, 1954, at about 8:27 p.m. GMT (about 2027 local) over Berlin, Germany, a civilian reported one object over the American sector. The witness was a German official. The object was watched for about 5 to 10 seconds.

The object was about as bright as the full moon. It flew in a straight path at constant altitude and speed, from northwest to southeast. It had no clear features, no sound, and no trail. Its speed appeared about twice that of a jet fighter, yet slower than a meteor. It then disappeared behind surrounding buildings.

The weather was clear with a new moon and light wind. The Air Force record lists the conclusion as astronomical, a meteor. The card noted the speed was consistent with meteor speeds over the arc the object traveled.
