Summary

On December 17, 1961, a military crew reported an object in the Atlantic. The sighting was made at about 0915 GMT. It was seen by eye.

The object had unknown characteristics but was believed to look like a satellite. It was reported moving toward the east on a bearing of about 90 degrees. Its speed was unknown.
