Summary

On January 13, 1961, an unidentified flying object with great brilliance was reported in the Pacific Ocean near coordinates 33.33N, 152.02W. The object was first sighted bearing 255 degrees and passed across the star Arcturus at an altitude of 55 degrees. The bearing was 197 degrees true. The sighting occurred on January 13-14, 1961, around midnight GMT in a partly overcast area. The report was received by the Navy on January 15, 1961. The Air Force evaluation was listed as unknown.
