Summary

On November 18, 1961, a military observer over the Pacific reported an object at about 5:24 (0524 Zulu). The position was near 40 degrees north, 173 degrees west. One object was seen, round and white, about the size of a pinhead. At first it blinked at the rate of an aircraft warning beacon. It was noticed while the observers were watching a weather balloon ascent. The blinking stopped as the object reached about 35 degrees elevation. It then disappeared at about 12 degrees elevation on a northerly course. It was watched for about 3 minutes through binoculars. The Air Force noted the speed and lights were consistent with an aircraft and listed the case as a possible aircraft.
