Summary

On September 23, 1962, an observer in the Pacific Ocean reported a possible satellite. The position was about 35 degrees north and 174 degrees west. The time was about 0632Z. The object was in sight for about 20 seconds.

The object had the brightness of a second magnitude star and moved at extremely high speed from south to north. Its altitude was unknown.

The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force noted that a known satellite was in another area and heading southeast at the time. It said the duration was short for a satellite observation and listed the case as insufficient data.
