Summary

On an unknown date, the US Coast Guard cutter Eagle reported sighting a very bright object moving at high speed in a position 100-135 miles southeast of the Azores. The object moved from west to east, remaining visible for about 10 seconds before disappearing from sight. It was bright enough to shine through overcast conditions and had a magnitude greater than the planet Venus. The object moved too fast to be tracked as it traveled out of sight. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably a meteor.
