Unidentified

Summary

On July 25, 1954, at 9:00 a.m., a civilian in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio reported seeing an unidentified object. The object was circular, silver-white in color with a black center, and as bright as the full moon or brighter. It was three to four times the size of the moon during a lunar eclipse. The object started at the zenith and traveled northwest for about 10 degrees before disappearing. The observation lasted five seconds. The object moved in a straight line with unknown speed and altitude. It left a trail behind it that resembled a jet vapor trail during daytime. The Air Force found insufficient data for evaluation and suggested the sighting might be a meteor or possibly a jet with afterburner.
