Unidentified

Summary

On two dates, the middle of summer 1958 and March 15, 1959, a civilian near Worthington, Pennsylvania, reported seeing the same object. He wrote to the Air Force after reading a book about unidentified flying objects.

The first sighting was about 2 a.m. and lasted around ten minutes. The object flew from east to about northwest at roughly 50 miles per hour. It moved overhead, stopped and hovered about three minutes, then turned and left. He described it as shaped like a large dish about 100 feet across, reddish blue, with no sound. The sky was very clear with no moon.

The second sighting was about 6:30 p.m. and lasted around five minutes. The object flew from south to north at about 45 degrees above the horizon. The Air Force replied that the letter did not have enough information and sent a questionnaire. No completed questionnaire was returned, so the case was listed as insufficient data.
