Summary

On January 22, 1954, a civilian couple near West Point, Kentucky reported a bright white light. The sighting began at 2025 local time and lasted about 25 minutes. The witnesses were a housewife and an apprentice electrician.

They said the light looked like a distant spotlight moving up and down at about a 45 degree angle. It would disappear and reappear, never in the same place. It was about the size of a medium flashlight and was a bright white color. There was one light, and it made no sound.

The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. A nearby radar site about 12 miles south of West Point reported nothing unusual on its screen. There were no other witnesses. The Air Force listed the case with insufficient data and the comment that the light looked like a spotlight.
