Summary

On the night of July 30, 1961, in Vincennes, Indiana, a witness observed a white light moving across the sky from southwest to northeast between 12:30 a.m. and 12 midnight. The witness noted that the light's brightness and timing resembled the Echo satellite. The witness wondered if the light might be something other than Echo or another satellite. An Air Force officer responded on October 23, 1961, noting that the Echo satellite had undergone changes to its original configuration and that the satellite's orbit and characteristics were well understood. No final Air Force evaluation was recorded on the available pages.
