Anderson, IndianaNovember 1957

Insufficient Data

Summary

Two witnesses in Anderson, Indiana saw unusual lights in the night sky on November 8, 1957, between 9:00 and 9:10 p.m. local time. Both observers described a green object with red and white edges that was roughly the size of a basketball. The object appeared identical to the second witness and grew noticeably larger as it descended toward the ground. The witnesses noted that the object was very bright.

According to the case file cover sheet, the Air Force investigation concluded that the sighting was most likely a meteor. The file notes that aside from the duration of the sighting, the description was very similar to that of a fireball, which supported the meteor evaluation.
