Summary
On August 14, 1962, an object fell to the ground in Upper Volta, Africa. The object came down during the afternoon and caused alarm among field workers. There was a loud noise and a bright light overhead.
The object was about the size of a grapefruit and weighed about 8 kilograms. It was found in a hole about 40 centimeters deep and 3 meters wide. The object itself was recovered from the ground.
The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force assumed the object was a meteorite and said it was sent to Brookhaven for analysis.
