Summary
On March 18, 1955, at Twenty-Nine Palms, California, a civilian reported a round object. It was about the size of a quarter held at arm's length and probably white in color, though no exact color was given. The object was watched for about ten minutes.
The object drifted back and forth, then drifted out of sight.
The Air Force said the object was possibly a balloon. The sighting was near many weather stations, and regular weather balloon releases were made in the area. Winds at the time were toward the east at 30,000 to 50,000 feet. No further action was taken.
