Summary

On November 15, 1953, at about 11:30 p.m., a civilian near St. Louis, Missouri, reported a single object. The witness was driving on Highway 30 between Cedar Hill and High Ridge. A child age eleven was also present. The object was watched for about two minutes.

The object had no clear shape and looked the size of a pinhead. Its color was like starlight or blue white. There was no tail, trail, or exhaust, and no sound. It was first thought to be a falling star. It sat about 60 degrees above the horizon. Its path varied from due south to southwest, then continued to the west. It then sped away at an estimated 1,000 miles per hour.

The Air Force record was based on a verbal report given to an officer. An analyst wrote that a firm review was not possible because the information was sketchy. The report noted the sighting might possibly be a night flight test of a jet aircraft.
