Summary

On December 3, 1958, two reports came in from St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. A member of the Alaska National Guard at Savoonga heard a sound and saw a light. The case was handled under a program called Moon Dust.

In the first report, the witness heard a sound for about three minutes and saw a light shining through the overcast for about three seconds. The object was traveling northeast and disappeared into the clouds. In a second report, the Alaska National Guard at Gambell saw a lighted trail at very high altitude, traveling east, observed through the overcast.

The Air Force noted the object was sighted from two locations. It concluded the object was probably a meteor. This case is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
