Summary

On July 23, 1955, at 9:10 p.m. local time in St. Cloud, Minnesota, a civilian reported one round, red object. The Air Force recorded the report under Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The object looked about the size of a nickel, possibly seen through binoculars. It traveled west at a slow rate of speed. The sighting lasted about seven to eight minutes.

The Air Force noted the object crossed a major part of the sky in a straight course. A check found that an airline flight had left Minneapolis for Fargo, North Dakota about twenty minutes before the sighting. St. Cloud lies on that flight path. Officials concluded the sighting was probably aircraft.
