Summary

On April 29, 1957, at night, a husband and wife in Seattle, Washington reported a sighting while watching a comet. They were standing outside their home. The sky was clear and the stars were very bright.

They saw a group of globular objects, counted as seven to nine. The objects were white with a greenish tinge. Their undersides looked lighter and flatter, with a mark like two half moons. The objects moved very fast, crossing about a 45 degree arc of sky in one second, heading from east to northwest. The witnesses said they had seen a similar sight about a year and a half earlier.

The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) lists the case as astronomical. The conclusion was a meteor, likely a bolide that had already exploded, given the short duration and the description.
