Summary

On April 19, 1954, at 8:52 p.m., an engineer draftsman at Sampson Air Force Base in New York observed an object about the size of a nickel held at arm's length. The object was bright white, like a fluorescent light bulb, and moved rapidly with an exhaust birch visible behind it. The object appeared about 10 to 19 times longer than its diameter. No sound was heard. The object rose at an angle of five degrees and disappeared into the horizon. The sighting lasted about one minute. One ground observer saw the object. Conditions were clear and cloudless with good visibility. The Air Force evaluation is unknown.
