Project Blue Book Case File
Reading, PennsylvaniaMay 1954
Summary
On May 10, 1954, at about 11:20 p.m. in Reading, Pennsylvania, a 17-year-old civilian reported one object. He heard a roaring noise in the sky, looked up, and saw a glowing white object slowly moving in a circle above him. The noise grew louder as the object moved toward the moon, which was then in the west. His mother also saw it, and his father saw a bright, star-like object. The boy reported it by letter to military authorities. An Air Force operations officer replied that it was likely a radar weather balloon or other weather device, not a jet aircraft. The Air Force conclusion was possibly aircraft.
