Summary

On December 3, 1953, at about 6:07 p.m. local time near North Truro, Massachusetts, military observers reported one object. It was tracked by both air radar and ground radar, and seen visually from a B-25 aircraft flying at about 210 knots and 12,000 feet. The object was about 16 miles north of the observer at about 13,000 feet on a course of 030 degrees. The sighting lasted about five minutes.

The object had the shape and size of an aircraft on radar. It made erratic changes in altitude and speed, with speed in excess of 700 miles per hour. The weather was clear with calm winds. A fighter was diverted to investigate.

The Air Force record lists the conclusion as aircraft. The report noted there was no data to show the sighting could not be an aircraft. A request for specific information on aircraft in the area was not answered. The case was processed under Project Blue Book, the Air Force program for unidentified flying object reports.
