Summary

On July 12, 1955, a civilian in Newark Valley, New York reported seeing one or two objects that appeared close together. The objects were round, clear plastic in color, and similar in shape. They remained stationary and still in sight at the time of the report. The Air Force received reports from this source and two other sources. Flight S-9 investigated the reliability of the witnesses. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a balloon, possibly an unusual double balloon that attracted two fighter aircraft.
