Summary

On December 31, 1960, someone in Nashua, New Hampshire reported seeing a saucer-shaped object that was dull silver-gray in color. The witness first noticed it because of a flash of light reflecting off the object's surface. The object reportedly made a sound like a small motorboat. It then climbed straight up and disappeared into the clouds.

The Air Force investigation found that the witness had not provided enough information to reach a firm conclusion. However, based on what details were available, investigators suggested the sighting was probably caused by a reflection, a mirage, or both. The case was ultimately evaluated as "probably balloon," though the file indicates significant uncertainty.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising 10 pages of microfilm.
