Summary

On April 27, 1962, a U.S. Navy aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean reported an unidentified object. The object was first seen at 2340Z and contact was lost at 2348Z. The sighting was a visual observation.

The object appeared at about 15 degrees elevation and 170 degrees azimuth. It was last seen at about 20 degrees elevation and 200 degrees azimuth. A follow-up report described it as one round object, white, about the size of the star Dubhe, and similar to a star. It moved in relation to the stars on a steady course of about 128 degrees true, then faded out over about 2 minutes.

This report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said a satellite was ruled out. It said the limited data did not allow a firm conclusion.
