Summary

On May 2, 1957, at about 11:30 p.m. local time, a civilian near Denver, Colorado reported a sighting. The witness was a technical motion picture writer based in Orlando, Florida. The sky was clear.

The person saw one disc shaped object about the size of a hockey puck. It had a reddish glow and a cone shaped tail of blue flame. It moved across the sky in a straight path and disappeared behind mountains. The sighting lasted about four seconds.

The report notes normal air carrier traffic was in the area. The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) lists the case as astronomical and concludes it was a possible meteor.
