Muskegon, MichiganNovember 1962
Summary
On November 30, 1962, a civilian in Muskegon, Michigan reported seeing an unusual object in the night sky. The object appeared as a bright point of light comparable to a star or moon and remained visible for about six minutes. According to the witness, the object was solid and had a sharply outlined edge, glowing white in color. A faint hum accompanied the object as it moved. The sighting began in the southwest at an angle of 45 degrees above the horizon, then the object changed course and moved eastward, climbing higher in the sky before disappearing.
The witness provided a detailed account through an Air Force questionnaire, describing the object's appearance and behavior in considerable detail. The file notes that the observation was consistent with an aircraft in terms of description, duration, and flight characteristics, though the witness reported the object did not behave like a conventional airplane.
The Air Force marked this case as "unknown" in its evaluation. The case file contains 23 pages of investigation material held by the National Archives.
