Summary

On July 25, 1958, a red, shiny object was reported over Mt. Holly and Riverside, New Jersey. The sighting lasted 25 minutes. Civilian and military observers witnessed the object moving from northwest to southeast. The object was described as round and shiny, reflecting sunlight. An Air Force investigation determined the sighting was a weather balloon. The balloon was 15 feet in diameter, carried a 20-pound transmitter, and was observed at an altitude of 10,000 feet at 2:02 a.m. The heading was southeast. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a balloon.
