Summary

On April 7, 1956, a civilian at Passaic, New Jersey, reported one object at 8:55 p.m. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The witness wrote in by letter and filled out an information sheet.

The object was very bright white and about the size of a pea at arm's length. Its edges were sharply outlined. It disappeared below the horizon. The witness estimated the speed at 850 mph and the altitude at about 10,000 feet. The sky was clear with no wind. The sighting lasted about one minute and three seconds.

The Air Force said there was too little information for a valid conclusion. The record noted that the edges were sharply outlined yet the witness did not give the shape, and the direction and flight path were not given.
