Summary

On March 27, 1950, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a radar operator at a gun position on Motobu Peninsula, Okinawa, detected an unidentified object on radar. The object was first picked up at 13,000 feet and tracked in a southeasterly direction toward a point over a mountain. The initial radar pickup remained stationary for 10 minutes before moving southeast. The object moved on a heading of 220 degrees for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 16.9 miles. An additional radar in the area did not pick up the object. The object moved faster than an operator could track. The observation lasted approximately 10 to 20 minutes and was tracked by radar for approximately 2 minutes after the object started to move. The Air Force concluded the sighting was unidentified.
