Summary

On October 23, 1957, residents of Milwaukee, Wisconsin witnessed a brief but puzzling event in the evening sky. Between 8 and 14 objects, each appearing the size of a pea held at arm's length, moved in a straight line across the sky. The objects glowed a dim orange-yellow color and made no sound. The entire sighting lasted only four to five seconds before the objects vanished.

An observer on the ground watched with the naked eye as the discs moved on a steady path with no deviation. The Air Force recorded the objects' color, flight path, and short duration in their official case file, noting that these characteristics suggested the sighting might have been a meteor or other astronomical phenomenon.

The Air Force's evaluation form indicates the case was marked as "unknown," though a handwritten note on the record card suggests the evaluators considered it possibly astronomical in nature, consistent with a meteor sighting. However, the file does not contain a detailed investigation report, radar confirmation, or weather analysis that might have confirmed or ruled out this conclusion definitively.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, consisting of 14 pages.
