Project Blue Book Case File

MIAMISBURG, OHIO & ADA, OHIOOctober 1954

Unidentified

Summary

On October 23, 1954, two people in different locations in Ohio saw what the Air Force's Project Blue Book investigation would later label an unidentified object. One witness was in Miamisburg, the other in Ada. Both reported seeing a bluish-white object that made no sound. The sightings lasted for several seconds, and observers at both locations were certain they saw the same phenomenon.

The witnesses completed the Air Force's standard technical information questionnaire, which captured details about sky conditions, object behavior, and apparent size and distance. Because the OCR text of pages containing their responses is heavily degraded and difficult to read with confidence, the specific details of what each witness reported, their exact viewing angles, estimated distances, and interpretations of the object remain unclear from this file.

The Air Force evaluated the case and reached a conclusion that appears on the cover sheet: the object was likely a meteor. This explanation would account for the brief observation period, the bluish-white color, the silence, and the fact that two observers in different locations could have witnessed the same atmospheric event.
