Summary

On March 28, 1961, a civilian woman near Mellette, South Dakota, reported sightings to the Air Force. The report describes a letter she wrote to the Secretary of Defense, asking for action against flying saucers she said were shooting down planes and killing servicemen. She described an incident in which two jets were attacked by the saucers south of her farm. She said she sees the objects all the time. The observation was listed as lasting about 50 minutes, with one object, and the course was marked unreliable.

On Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports, the comments said the witness probably saw something and distorted her impressions into the account given. The card listed insufficient data and treated the report as unreliable.
