Summary

On May 14, 1952, off the coast of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, several civilians reported two unidentified objects. The witnesses included a businessman and lawyer, an American former Air Force pilot, and a college student. The sighting lasted from about 1900 to 1930 hours, after sundown, and was watched from a high bluff about 700 to 1,000 feet above sea level.

The two objects were spherical and bright orange, described as shining like the sun. One object, thought to be larger, appeared stationary while the smaller one darted away at high speed and then returned close to the larger one. There was no exhaust, sound, or visible means of propulsion. The darting movement could only be seen through field glasses, not with the naked eye.

The objects were over the ocean on a heading of about 270 degrees magnetic, and the distance could not be estimated. The weather was clear with about 20 miles visibility. An attempt to photograph the objects showed nothing on the negative, and no interception was possible. The investigator considered the witnesses reliable. The record card lists the conclusion as Unknown.
