Summary
On January 27, 1953, at about 6:00 p.m., two airmen saw an object about one mile west of March Air Force Base, California. The witnesses were a technical sergeant and a staff sergeant from a supply squadron.
The object was oval shaped and very bright silver. There was only one object, with no trail or exhaust. The witnesses said it appeared larger than a B-29 aircraft seen at a similar distance. No sound was heard.
The object's speed varied from standing still to very fast, said to be greater than any aircraft speed the witnesses had seen. It traveled in an apparent straight course and seemed to wobble from side to side as it moved. A diffused glow appeared only during movement, and the oval shape was clearly seen when the glow was absent.
Weather was clear with unlimited visibility and no cloud cover. The record notes the manner of disappearance sounds like a balloon. The card lists the conclusion as insufficient data for evaluation.
