Summary

On September 29, 1952, at 5:30 p.m. in Mainz, Germany, a French naval officer observed an egg-shaped, luminescent object with a black spot in the center. The object resembled a C-47 fuselage in size. It moved in a straight line at 600 kilometers per hour. The sighting lasted about six minutes. The witness observed the object from his home, approximately 2 kilometers south of Mainz. The object was estimated to be over the Rhine River at an altitude of 4,000 meters. It turned white in the center and became red at the edges as it moved away. The officer heard jet aircraft flying in the same area before and after the sighting. C-47 and F-84 type aircraft were confirmed flying in the local area at the time of the sighting. The Air Force evaluation is not stated in these pages.
